A championship belt from MS Belts costs the price shown on its product page for the options you choose. Three options change the plates, which are the metal pieces on the front of the belt, and each moves the price by a fixed amount. Making the plates from brass in place of zinc alloy adds $100. 24K gold plating, a thin layer of real gold on the plate surface, changes the price by $70. Each step up in plate thickness adds $40. Custom name plates and engraving start from $25 and are quoted by email. Shipping is free worldwide. All prices are in US dollars. Import duties or taxes, which your country may charge on goods from abroad, are not included. We do not quote one starting price in this guide, because each design has its own listed price.
What moves the price
| Choice | Standard build | Option | Price change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plate metal | Zinc alloy | Brass | +$100 |
| Plate thickness | 2 mm | 4 mm, 6 mm or 8 mm | +$40 per step: +$40, +$80 or +$120 |
| Finish | No gold plating | 24K gold plating | +$70 compared with the same belt unplated |
| Personal details | None | Custom name plates and engraving | From $25, quoted by email |
| Design | A design from the shop | A fully custom design | Quoted by email |
A few words, explained. The build is the combination of metal, thickness and finish you choose. Zinc alloy is the standard plate metal, lighter and more affordable. Brass is denser and heavier. A name plate is a small plate that carries a name, and engraving is lettering cut into the metal. With or without gold plating, the belt is not solid gold.
Three worked examples
In these examples, "the listed price" means the price shown on the product page for the standard build: zinc alloy plates, 2 mm thick, without gold plating.
| Build | Options added | What you pay |
|---|---|---|
| Zinc alloy, 2 mm, no gold plating | None | The listed price |
| Zinc alloy, 4 mm, 24K gold plating | $40 + $70 = $110 | The listed price + $110 |
| Brass, 6 mm, 24K gold plating | $100 + $80 + $70 = $250 | The listed price + $250 |
Starting from that listed price, the three fixed options together can add at most $290: brass ($100), 8 mm plates ($120) and gold plating ($70). A custom name plate or engraving is quoted on top of that, from $25.
Before you compare two prices, check which options are selected on each product page, gold plating in particular.
What does the price of the standard build include?
- Zinc alloy plates, 2 mm thick, cut and engraved to the design and finished by hand.
- A cowhide leather strap, about 50 to 51 inches (127 to 130 cm) long. It fastens with snaps, which are press studs, and has several snap positions.
- Making the belt to order in our workshop.
- Free worldwide shipping by courier (UPS, FedEx or DHL), with tracking.
What is not in the price?
Import duties and taxes are not included. If your country charges them, and the United States does, the courier bills you. The amount is set by your country's customs rules, not by us, so we cannot quote it here. Plan for it as a separate cost. The guide to shipping, customs and duties explains the process.
Why do belt prices vary so much between sellers?
As a general rule, the price of any belt follows what it is made from and how it is made. When you compare two belts, compare the same things:
- Plates: metal, or plastic with a printed design. If metal, which metal and how thick.
- Finish: real gold plating, or a gold colour applied another way.
- Strap: leather, or a synthetic material.
- Delivery: whether shipping is included, and who pays import duties.
A low price is not wrong. It can mean a different build. Ask what the plates and the strap are made of before you decide.
Where should you spend first?
It depends on what you want the belt to do.
- For colour: gold plating changes the colour of the plates. The price difference is $70. See gold plating explained.
- For depth in the design: thicker plates allow deeper relief, which means the design can stand further out from its background. Each step is $40. See plate thickness explained.
- For weight in the hand: brass is denser than zinc alloy, and thicker plates weigh more. Brass is $100. See zinc alloy or brass.
- For a personal detail: a name plate or engraving, from $25.
If your budget is fixed, the standard build is a complete belt. None of the options is required.
What about custom designs and more than one belt?
A fully custom design is quoted by email, because the price depends on the design. If you need several belts for a league, a club or a company, ask for one quote for the whole order. The price is confirmed in writing in your quote.
In short
- The price follows the options you choose: brass adds $100, gold plating is a $70 difference and each thickness step adds $40.
- Name plates and engraving start from $25. Fully custom designs are quoted by email.
- Shipping is free worldwide. Import duties and taxes are not included. If your country charges them, the courier bills you.
- The three fixed options together add at most $290 to the price of the standard build without gold plating.
