Plate material: Zinc alloy (cast)
What’s the difference?

Brass plates are the standard: cut and engraved to the design, then finished by hand. Brass is dense and hard, so the belt feels solid in the hand. Cast zinc alloy plates are made in a mould cut for your design, then finished by hand. Casting allows deeper 3D relief than engraving, and zinc alloy takes plating well. The extra cost covers the mould and the hand-finishing. Brass or cast zinc alloy plates

Finish: Standard
What’s the difference?

24K gold electroplating puts a thin layer of real gold on the surface of the plates. The belt is not solid gold. Like any plating, the gold layer can wear if it is rubbed against something abrasive. The standard finish has no gold layer. Gold electroplating explained

Plate thickness: 4 mm
What’s the difference?

This is how thick the metal plates are. 2 mm is included. Each extra millimetre, up to 5 mm, adds the same amount, shown on each choice. Thicker plates allow deeper relief in the design, so details stand out more, and they weigh more. Plate thickness explained

About this design

The name United States Tag Team Championship has been used by several promotions. This listing is a made-to-order replica by MS Belts of the red and silver U.S.A. wrestling design in the photos. We could not match it to a single real belt, so the page opens on the closest build to the photos, and every choice shows its price.

About the United States Tag Team Championship

Wikipedia lists eleven versions of the NWA United States Tag Team Championship, from a Midwest Wrestling Association version in 1950 to the one the National Wrestling Alliance revived in 2022. The Jim Crockett Promotions version began in 1986, when Krusher Khruschev and Ivan Koloff won a 10-team tournament to become the first champions.

That title was renamed the WCW United States Tag Team Championship in 1991 and retired in July 1992. The Midnight Express, Bobby Eaton and Stan Lane, hold the record for most reigns, three. A Texas title, the Texas All-Star U.S.A. Tag Team Championship, took that name in 1986 and was abandoned in November that year.

Design details

  • Centre plate: a large silver plate with a red ribbon reading TAG TEAM across the top and another reading WRESTLING CHAMPION across the bottom, an engraved map outline with U.S.A. wrestling lettering, and two grappling wrestlers etched at the top.
  • Side plates: four silver plates with scrollwork borders, two on each side of the centre plate. Two show a blue map of the United States with U.S.A. wrestling, and two show an eagle above a striped shield reading U.S.A.
  • Strap: red, with an embossed scalloped border and gold-coloured snap studs at the tail.

The real belt and commercial replicas

We found no source for the maker, metals or weight of a belt with this design, and no commercial replica specification. The plates read U.S.A. wrestling and show no NWA branding, so we could not match them to the Crockett or Texas titles above. Our closest build is Zinc alloy (cast), Standard, 4 mm, which is what this page shows first.

How we make it

  • Plates: brass as standard (cut and engraved to the design, then finished by hand), or zinc alloy cast in a mould made for the design for +$100 (deeper 3D relief, takes plating well).
  • Finish: standard, or 24K gold electroplating for +$20 (a thin layer of real gold on the surface of the plates, not solid gold).
  • Thickness: 2 mm is included, up to 5 mm at +$50 per extra millimetre.
  • Strap: cowhide leather, about 50–51 in (127–130 cm), snap closure with several snap positions. Other sizes and strap colours can be quoted by email.
  • Made to order: see the delivery estimate on this page.
  • Free worldwide courier shipping (UPS, FedEx or DHL) with tracking. Import duties are prepaid by us (DDP).
  • Lifetime warranty on plating, hardware and stitching.

Questions

Questions about this belt

Which real belt is this?

We could not match this design to a single real belt, so this page describes the design in the photos. The plates read U.S.A. wrestling.

Which build looks closest to the photos?

Cast zinc alloy, Standard finish, 4 mm, which is where the page opens. The standard zinc finish is silver-grey, like the plates in the photos.

Can you add my name to the plates?

Custom name plates are quoted by email at support@msbelts.com. Send the wording and the plate you want it on.

The three choices, in short

Three choices about the plates decide how the belt looks, how it feels in the hand and what it costs.

  • Plate material

The plates are the metal parts on the front of the belt. Brass plates are the standard: cut and engraved to the design, then finished by hand. Brass is dense and hard, so the belt feels solid. Cast zinc alloy plates are made in a mould and finished by hand, for deeper 3D relief.

Brass plates are included. Cast zinc alloy plates add $100.

  • Finish

24K real-gold electroplating is a thin layer of real gold on the surface of the plates. The belt is not solid gold, and the standard finish has no gold layer.

    24K real-gold electroplating adds $20.

    Gold electroplating explained
  • Plate thickness

Thickness is how thick the metal plates are, in millimetres. 2 mm is included, and you can go up to 5 mm. Thicker plates allow deeper relief in the design and weigh more.

2 mm is included. Each extra millimetre adds $50, up to 5 mm.

How this belt is made

Every belt goes through 7 or 8 phases in our workshop, depending on the build. For a cast belt, casting in a mould takes the place of cutting. Gold electroplating happens only when you choose it or when it is included.

Under normal conditions, most belts are finished in 5–6 working days. For a custom design, the clock starts when you approve the design.

  1. Phase 1: Design and artwork

  2. Phase 2: Cutting the plates

  3. Phase 3: Engraving and detailing

  5. Phase 5: Gold electroplating When 24K gold electroplating is chosen or included

  6. Phase 6: Colour filling

Short answers about this belt, delivery and returns.

All questions and answers

How long does a belt take?

Under normal conditions most belts are made in 5–6 working days, then delivered by courier in up to 5 working days, anywhere in the world. For a custom design, the clock starts when you approve the design. These are estimates, not guarantees.

Is shipping free?

Yes. Every order ships free worldwide by courier (UPS, FedEx or DHL) with tracking.

We prepay import duties (DDP), so there are no customs charges to pay on delivery.

What are the plates made of?

Brass is the standard plate metal. On custom belts the SD build has brass plates cut and engraved to the design, the CNC build has brass plates CNC-machined for finer detail, and the HD build has zinc alloy plates cast in a mould made for the design and finished by hand, for the deepest 3D relief. On catalogue belts, cast zinc alloy is +$100. Plates are 2 mm thick as standard, and 3, 4 or 5 mm add $50 for each extra millimetre. The strap is cowhide leather.

Is 24K gold electroplating real gold?

Yes, it is a thin layer of real 24K gold on the surface of the plates. The belt is not solid gold, and like any plating it can wear if it is rubbed against something abrasive.

Will the belt fit?

The strap is about 50 to 51 inches (127 to 130 cm) long with a snap closure and several snap positions. That is the length of the whole strap, not a waist size. Email us the wearer's measurement and we will confirm the fit before you order.

Can I put my own names or logo on a belt?

Yes. Name plate engraving can be added on belt pages that offer it. For a logo or a fully custom design, use the belt builder or email support@msbelts.com for a quote. Nothing is made until you approve the design.
