Buy a replica if you want a copy of a real title belt, a commercial replica if you want the lowest price and need no changes, and a custom belt if the belt is for your own league, gym, company or gift. A replica copies someone else's design. A custom belt carries yours. The checklist below works for any seller, including us, and the tables show what each kind of belt costs and what you can change.
The three kinds of belt, side by side
Sellers use these words loosely, so here is what they mean in this guide.
| Feature | Replica | Commercial replica | Custom belt |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | A copy of a real title belt design, made to order | A copy sold through a promotion's own shop or a large retailer, usually made in big runs to one standard design | A belt built to your own design |
| Best for | Fans and collectors who want a particular title | Buyers who want a standard copy and no changes | Leagues, gyms, companies, events and gifts |
| What you can change | Plate material, finish and thickness | Usually nothing | Artwork, wording, strap colours, size and plates |
| Price at MS Belts | Set on each listing, with options on top | Set by the seller | From $275 for one belt |
A replica is a copy of a design. It is not the real title belt, and MS Belts is not affiliated with any promotion or organisation.
Which one should you buy?
- You want a particular title on your shelf. Choose a replica, and use the options to match the build you prefer.
- You want the cheapest standard copy and nothing changed. A commercial replica may suit you.
- The belt is for your own league, gym, company or event. Choose custom, so the belt carries your name and logo.
- The belt is a gift for one person. Choose custom, so you can add their name and a line that is about them.
- You need several belts that match. Choose custom, and ask about volume prices. Five or more belts are 20% off each.
Ten questions to ask any seller
Put these to every seller before you pay. The right-hand column shows our answers, so you can compare like for like.
| Question | Why it matters | Our answer |
|---|---|---|
| Which metal are the plates? | Metal affects detail, hardness and price. | Replicas use brass as standard. Zinc alloy (cast) is +$100. |
| How thick are they? | Thickness changes the look and the cost. | 2 mm is included. 3, 4 or 5 mm is +$50 per extra millimetre. |
| Is the gold real? | "Gold" can mean paint or a thin coating. | 24K gold is electroplating, a thin layer of real gold on the surface. The belt is not solid gold. It is +$20. |
| Can I see it before I pay in full? | A spelling mistake is expensive once the metal is made. | Custom belts get a free digital mockup within 48 hours, with unlimited revisions. |
| How long will it take? | Dates matter for gifts and events. | Most catalogue belts are made in 5 to 6 working days, then delivered in up to 5 working days. Custom builds take about 4 weeks from mockup approval. These are estimates. |
| What does shipping cost? | Postage can add a lot at checkout. | Free worldwide by express courier (UPS, FedEx or DHL), with tracking. |
| Who pays import duties? | A surprise bill at the door spoils a gift. | We do. Duties are prepaid (DDP), so there are no customs charges on delivery. |
| What if it arrives damaged? | You need a clear route to a fix. | Email photos to support@msbelts.com within 14 days of delivery. We repair, replace or refund. |
| Can I send it back if I change my mind? | Made-to-order items are often final sale. | No. You can cancel free of charge within 24 hours of ordering. |
| Is there a warranty? | Plating and stitching are where wear shows first. | Lifetime warranty on plating, hardware and stitching. |
What you can change on a replica listing
Each replica page opens on the build closest to the real belt or to the commercial replica, so you start from a sensible default. You can then change three things.
| Choice | Standard | Option | Price change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plate material | Brass | Zinc alloy (cast) | +$100 |
| Finish | Standard | 24K gold plated | +$20 |
| Plate thickness | 2 mm | 3, 4 or 5 mm | +$50 per extra millimetre |
Brass is dense and hard. Cast zinc alloy captures deep sculpted relief from a mould and takes plating well. The cast option costs more because of the mould and the hand-finishing, not because the metal is dearer.
Some listings are cast belts, marked with the tag "casted belt". Their plates are zinc alloy cast in a mould, so you choose only the finish and the thickness. To compare the two metals in more detail, read brass vs zinc alloy plates.
When a custom belt is the better buy
A replica gives you someone else's design. If the belt needs your league name, your gym's logo or a name plate for the winner, a custom belt is the only way to get it.
| Custom build | Plates | 1 belt | 5 or more, each |
|---|---|---|---|
| SD (standard detail) | Brass, cut and engraved to the design, finished by hand | $275 | $220 |
| CNC | Brass, CNC-machined for finer detail | $350 | $280 |
| HD | Zinc alloy cast in a mould made for the design, deepest 3D relief | $550 | $440 |
Ten belts are 25% off each, and sets beyond ten are quoted. Repeat orders get a further 5% off with the code REPEAT5. The full price list, with every option, is in what a championship belt costs. If you are buying in bulk, see the wholesale and bulk orders page. To see how the design stage works, read how to design your own championship belt.
Red flags when you compare belts
- The listing never names the plate metal.
- It says "gold" without saying whether it is plating or solid.
- There is no word on delivery time or import duties.
- You cannot see a design before you pay in full.
- An independent seller hints that the belt comes from the promotion itself.
- There is no email address or named policy for faults.
Next step
If you know which title you want, browse the full catalogue and pick your options on the listing. If you need your own design, start in the custom belt builder.
In short
- Replica: a copy of a real title design. Commercial replica: a standard copy with no changes. Custom: your own design.
- On a replica, you can change plate material (+$100 for cast zinc alloy), finish (+$20 for 24K gold) and thickness (+$50 per extra millimetre).
- Custom belts start at $275, with a free mockup and unlimited revisions.
- Ask every seller about metal, thickness, gold, timing, duties and faults before you pay.
Questions
What is the difference between a replica and a custom belt?
A replica copies the design of an existing title belt. A custom belt is built to your own design, with your wording, logo and strap colours. Replicas are bought from a listing and adjusted with options. Custom belts start with a free digital mockup.
Is a replica belt the real title belt?
No. A replica is an independent copy of a design, made to order. MS Belts is not affiliated with any promotion or organisation, and we do not claim a replica is the belt itself.
Can I change the plates on a replica?
Yes. Brass is the standard plate material, and cast zinc alloy is +$100. You can add 24K gold plating for +$20, and choose 3, 4 or 5 mm plates at +$50 per extra millimetre. Cast belts offer finish and thickness only.
How long does a replica take to arrive?
Most catalogue belts are made in 5 to 6 working days and then delivered in up to 5 working days. These are estimates, not guarantees.
Will I pay customs charges on delivery?
No. We prepay import duties (DDP), so there are no customs charges when the belt arrives. Shipping is free worldwide by express courier, with tracking.
