Dusty Rhodes, Jack Brisco, and Kevin Sullivan all held the Florida title, which served as a proving ground for talent heading toward the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. Florida wrestling produced some of the most skilled in-ring performers of the territory era, and this title sat at the centre of that tradition.
