Plate material: Zinc alloy (cast)
What’s the difference?

Brass plates are the standard: cut and engraved to the design, then finished by hand. Brass is dense and hard, so the belt feels solid in the hand. Cast zinc alloy plates are made in a mould cut for your design, then finished by hand. Casting allows deeper 3D relief than engraving, and zinc alloy takes plating well. The extra cost covers the mould and the hand-finishing. Brass or cast zinc alloy plates

Finish: 24K gold plated
What’s the difference?

24K gold electroplating puts a thin layer of real gold on the surface of the plates. The belt is not solid gold. Like any plating, the gold layer can wear if it is rubbed against something abrasive. The standard finish has no gold layer. Gold electroplating explained

Plate thickness: 4 mm
What’s the difference?

This is how thick the metal plates are. 2 mm is included. Each extra millimetre, up to 5 mm, adds the same amount, shown on each choice. Thicker plates allow deeper relief in the design, so details stand out more, and they weigh more. Plate thickness explained

About this design

The NWA Florida Heavyweight Title was the lead singles title of Championship Wrestling from Florida, an NWA territory. This listing is MS Belts' made-to-order replica of the gold and silver design with the wrestler in a circle. The page opens on the build closest to the real belt, and every choice shows its price.

About the NWA Florida Heavyweight Title

Wikipedia dates the revived title to 1966, after it was dropped in 1949. Dusty Rhodes holds the record with 12 reigns, and Jack Brisco, Johnny Valentine and Kendall Windham also held it.

After Jim Crockett Promotions bought the territory in 1987, the title came back in 1988. Wikipedia lists later use by Florida Championship Wrestling, NWA Florida and Pro Wrestling Fusion, with revivals in 2009 and 2012. Several belt designs have carried the name, and this one is the gold and silver scroll design.

Design details

  • Centre plate: a tall scroll-edged plate with NWA and Florida lettering arched across the top, a black Heavyweight banner across the middle and a black Wrestling Champion banner along the bottom.
  • Artwork: a wrestler in a hold inside a circle, with a scroll curl on the right and leaf ornament at the base. Gold outlines sit over silver-coloured panels.
  • Side plates: gold-rimmed ovals topped with NWA, one with the Florida outline and one with a wrestler. Our photos show two ovals on each side of the centre plate.
  • Strap: black leather with an embossed scalloped border and rows of studs at the end.

The real belt and commercial replicas

We could not find a maker, material or weight for the Florida title belts in the sources we checked, nor a commercial replica with published specifications. The design here comes from photographs. Our closest build is zinc alloy (cast), 24K gold plated, 4 mm, which is what this page shows first.

How we make it

  • Plates: choose brass (standard, cut and engraved then hand finished) or cast zinc alloy (+$100, poured in a mould made for the design, then hand finished, with deeper 3D relief).
  • Finish: standard or 24K gold plated for +$20. The gold is a thin electroplated layer on the plate surface, not a solid gold belt.
  • Thickness: 2 mm comes with the base build. Go up to 5 mm at +$50 per extra millimetre.
  • Strap: cowhide leather, about 50–51 in (127–130 cm), fastened with snaps in several positions. Any size from kids to jumbo, and any strap colour, can be quoted by email.
  • Made to order: check the delivery estimate on this page.
  • Shipping: free worldwide courier (UPS, FedEx or DHL), tracked, with import duties prepaid (DDP).
  • Warranty: lifetime on plating, hardware and stitching.

Questions

Questions about this belt

Does the cast build matter on this design?

It helps. The scrollwork, leaf ornament and wrestler figure show more depth in cast zinc alloy (+$100). Brass plates are cut and engraved to the design, so the relief is shallower.

Which build looks most like the belt in the photos?

Cast zinc alloy, 24K gold plated, 4 mm, which this page shows first. The photos show gold outlines over silver-coloured panels, so compare them with the finish you pick and email us if you want a particular gold and silver split.

Can you add my name to the plates?

Yes. Custom name plates and engraving are quoted by email at support@msbelts.com.

The three choices, in short

Three choices about the plates decide how the belt looks, how it feels in the hand and what it costs.

  • Plate material

The plates are the metal parts on the front of the belt. Brass plates are the standard: cut and engraved to the design, then finished by hand. Brass is dense and hard, so the belt feels solid. Cast zinc alloy plates are made in a mould and finished by hand, for deeper 3D relief.

Brass plates are included. Cast zinc alloy plates add $100.

  • Finish

24K real-gold electroplating is a thin layer of real gold on the surface of the plates. The belt is not solid gold, and the standard finish has no gold layer.

    24K real-gold electroplating adds $20.

    Gold electroplating explained
  • Plate thickness

Thickness is how thick the metal plates are, in millimetres. 2 mm is included, and you can go up to 5 mm. Thicker plates allow deeper relief in the design and weigh more.

2 mm is included. Each extra millimetre adds $50, up to 5 mm.

How this belt is made

Every belt goes through 7 or 8 phases in our workshop, depending on the build. For a cast belt, casting in a mould takes the place of cutting. Gold electroplating happens only when you choose it or when it is included.

Under normal conditions, most belts are finished in 5–6 working days. For a custom design, the clock starts when you approve the design.

Questions

Questions before you order

Short answers about this belt, delivery and returns.

All questions and answers

How long does a belt take?

Under normal conditions most belts are made in 5–6 working days, then delivered by courier in up to 5 working days, anywhere in the world. For a custom design, the clock starts when you approve the design. These are estimates, not guarantees.

Is shipping free?

Yes. Every order ships free worldwide by courier (UPS, FedEx or DHL) with tracking.

We prepay import duties (DDP), so there are no customs charges to pay on delivery.

What are the plates made of?

Brass is the standard plate metal. On custom belts the SD build has brass plates cut and engraved to the design, the CNC build has brass plates CNC-machined for finer detail, and the HD build has zinc alloy plates cast in a mould made for the design and finished by hand, for the deepest 3D relief. On catalogue belts, cast zinc alloy is +$100. Plates are 2 mm thick as standard, and 3, 4 or 5 mm add $50 for each extra millimetre. The strap is cowhide leather.

Is 24K gold electroplating real gold?

Yes, it is a thin layer of real 24K gold on the surface of the plates. The belt is not solid gold, and like any plating it can wear if it is rubbed against something abrasive.

Will the belt fit?

The strap is about 50 to 51 inches (127 to 130 cm) long with a snap closure and several snap positions. That is the length of the whole strap, not a waist size. Email us the wearer's measurement and we will confirm the fit before you order.

Can I put my own names or logo on a belt?

Yes. Name plate engraving can be added on belt pages that offer it. For a logo or a fully custom design, use the belt builder or email support@msbelts.com for a quote. Nothing is made until you approve the design.
