Plate material: Zinc alloy (cast)
What’s the difference?

Brass plates are the standard: cut and engraved to the design, then finished by hand. Brass is dense and hard, so the belt feels solid in the hand. Cast zinc alloy plates are made in a mould cut for your design, then finished by hand. Casting allows deeper 3D relief than engraving, and zinc alloy takes plating well. The extra cost covers the mould and the hand-finishing. Brass or cast zinc alloy plates

Finish: 24K gold plated
What’s the difference?

24K gold electroplating puts a thin layer of real gold on the surface of the plates. The belt is not solid gold. Like any plating, the gold layer can wear if it is rubbed against something abrasive. The standard finish has no gold layer. Gold electroplating explained

Plate thickness: 4 mm
What’s the difference?

This is how thick the metal plates are. 2 mm is included. Each extra millimetre, up to 5 mm, adds the same amount, shown on each choice. Thicker plates allow deeper relief in the design, so details stand out more, and they weigh more. Plate thickness explained

About this design

The NWA World Tag Team Championship is the NWA's world tag title, and several territories ran their own versions of it. This listing is MS Belts' made-to-order replica of a gold globe design whose plate reads "World Tag Team Wrestling Champions". The page opens on the build closest to the real belt, and every choice shows its price.

About the NWA Tag Team Championship

Wikipedia says that from 1948 to 1982 the NWA let member promotions create their own territorial versions of the title. Its list includes San Francisco, Georgia and Detroit, and a Mid-Atlantic version that ran from 1975 to 1991 before it became the WCW World Tag Team Championship.

In 1992 the NWA sanctioned a single championship, and Terry Gordy and Steve Williams were its first champions after a tournament run by WCW. NWA-TNA controlled the title from 2002, and America's Most Wanted hold the team record with six reigns. Our sources do not date this globe design, so we tie it to no single version.

Design details

  • Centre plate: a large gold plate with a blue-filled globe, a "World" banner above it and "Tag Team" and "Wrestling Champions" banners below, with NWA lettering arched across the top.
  • Ornament: scrollwork around the edge and a wrestler figure at each side of the globe.
  • Side plates: arch-topped gold plates with NWA lettering and engraved maps. Our photos show at least two on each side, plus a small oval "NWA Tag Team Champions" plate near the strap end.
  • Strap: black leather with a stitched border and a studded end.

The real belt and commercial replicas

Neither Wikipedia nor the Mid-Atlantic Gateway site dates this globe design or names its maker. The Gateway site credits Reggie Parks with the first Mid-Atlantic belts in 1975 and says cast "gold eagle" belts replaced them around 1980. We found no commercial replica with published specifications, so this build follows our photographs. Our closest build is zinc alloy (cast), 24K gold plated, 4 mm, which is what this page shows first.

How we make it

  • Plates: choose brass (standard, cut and engraved then hand finished) or cast zinc alloy (+$100, poured in a mould made for the design, then hand finished, with deeper 3D relief).
  • Finish: standard or 24K gold plated for +$20. The gold is a thin electroplated layer on the plate surface, not a solid gold belt.
  • Thickness: 2 mm comes with the base build. Go up to 5 mm at +$50 per extra millimetre.
  • Strap: cowhide leather, about 50–51 in (127–130 cm), fastened with snaps in several positions. Any size from kids to jumbo, and any strap colour, can be quoted by email.
  • Made to order: check the delivery estimate on this page.
  • Shipping: free worldwide courier (UPS, FedEx or DHL), tracked, with import duties prepaid (DDP).
  • Warranty: lifetime on plating, hardware and stitching.

Questions

Questions about this belt

Which NWA tag belt is this?

The plate reads "World Tag Team Wrestling Champions" under NWA lettering. We have not matched it to a dated version, so compare the photos with the belt you have in mind.

Which build looks closest to the photos?

Cast zinc alloy, 24K gold plated, 4 mm, which this page shows first. The photos show a blue-filled globe and ornate scrolled edges, and cast plates give deeper relief for both.

Can you add our team names?

Yes. Custom name plates and engraving are quoted by email at support@msbelts.com.

Independent replica. MS Belts is not affiliated with, licensed by or endorsed by NWA or any other promotion. Names are used only to describe the design.

The three choices, in short

Three choices about the plates decide how the belt looks, how it feels in the hand and what it costs.

  • Plate material

The plates are the metal parts on the front of the belt. Brass plates are the standard: cut and engraved to the design, then finished by hand. Brass is dense and hard, so the belt feels solid. Cast zinc alloy plates are made in a mould and finished by hand, for deeper 3D relief.

Brass plates are included. Cast zinc alloy plates add $100.

  • Finish

24K real-gold electroplating is a thin layer of real gold on the surface of the plates. The belt is not solid gold, and the standard finish has no gold layer.

    24K real-gold electroplating adds $20.

    Gold electroplating explained
  • Plate thickness

Thickness is how thick the metal plates are, in millimetres. 2 mm is included, and you can go up to 5 mm. Thicker plates allow deeper relief in the design and weigh more.

2 mm is included. Each extra millimetre adds $50, up to 5 mm.

How this belt is made

Every belt goes through 7 or 8 phases in our workshop, depending on the build. For a cast belt, casting in a mould takes the place of cutting. Gold electroplating happens only when you choose it or when it is included.

Under normal conditions, most belts are finished in 5–6 working days. For a custom design, the clock starts when you approve the design.

Short answers about this belt, delivery and returns.

All questions and answers

How long does a belt take?

Under normal conditions most belts are made in 5–6 working days, then delivered by courier in up to 5 working days, anywhere in the world. For a custom design, the clock starts when you approve the design. These are estimates, not guarantees.

Is shipping free?

Yes. Every order ships free worldwide by courier (UPS, FedEx or DHL) with tracking.

We prepay import duties (DDP), so there are no customs charges to pay on delivery.

What are the plates made of?

Brass is the standard plate metal. On custom belts the SD build has brass plates cut and engraved to the design, the CNC build has brass plates CNC-machined for finer detail, and the HD build has zinc alloy plates cast in a mould made for the design and finished by hand, for the deepest 3D relief. On catalogue belts, cast zinc alloy is +$100. Plates are 2 mm thick as standard, and 3, 4 or 5 mm add $50 for each extra millimetre. The strap is cowhide leather.

Is 24K gold electroplating real gold?

Yes, it is a thin layer of real 24K gold on the surface of the plates. The belt is not solid gold, and like any plating it can wear if it is rubbed against something abrasive.

Will the belt fit?

The strap is about 50 to 51 inches (127 to 130 cm) long with a snap closure and several snap positions. That is the length of the whole strap, not a waist size. Email us the wearer's measurement and we will confirm the fit before you order.

Can I put my own names or logo on a belt?

Yes. Name plate engraving can be added on belt pages that offer it. For a logo or a fully custom design, use the belt builder or email support@msbelts.com for a quote. Nothing is made until you approve the design.
