The AEW Women's World Championship was established at Double or Nothing 2019, with Riho winning the title in AEW's first ever women's championship match. Nyla Rose, Hikaru Shida, Britt Baker, Thunder Rosa, and Toni Storm have all held the title through rivalries that elevated women's wrestling on AEW programming and made the division a genuine draw for the promotion.
